You may be familiar with what’s known as the “Kitchen work triangle.” The sink, stove, and refrigerator form a triangle for efficient movement.
We identify the different zones within the kitchen:
- Prep: Counter space, knives, outlets, etc.
- Cooking: Stove, microwave, spice storage, etc.
- Cleaning: Sink, dishwasher, trash, etc.
After that step, we help you with choosing materials that balance style and durability. Lastly, we add the small details that make your ideas come to life. We do all this to combine a beautiful aesthetic with a design that will hold up to everyday use.
We are happy to do full remodels, but an approach of updating and refreshing is more common, and we can also help with that.
Remodeling Timeline—Demolition to Final Walkthrough
The timeline shifts somewhat based on the individual project, but here are a few numbers to give you an idea of what you’ll be working with:
- Minor Remodel: 4 to 6 weeks
- Moderate Remodel: new layout & appliances - 6 to 8 weeks
- Full Gut Remodel: walls moved, customs finished, etc. - 8 to 12 weeks
Different stages of the process take different amounts of time. Part of the reason the turnaround time can vary so much between projects is that they all require different phases, which take different amounts of time. Here is a more detailed look at some of the steps we take when doing a kitchen remodeling project, and how much time they require on average:
- Planning & Design - 2 to 6 weeks
- Ordering Materials - 2 to 8 weeks, often concurrent with planning
- Demolition - 2 to 5 days
- Rough-In Work (if needed) - 2 days to a week
- Structural Changes (if needed) - 2 days to a week often overlaps with rough-in
- Drywall, Patching & Painting - 2 to 4 days
- Cabinet Installation - 2 to 4 days
- Countertop Fabrication & Installation - 1 to 3 weeks
- Floor Installation - 2 to 5 days
- Backsplash & Trim Work - 2 to 4 days
- Appliance, Plumbing & Electrical - 1 to 3 days if special inspections are required
- Cleanup & Walkthrough - 1 to 3 days
Current Trends — How to Achieve a Timeless Look That Feels Modern
Some current trends we’re seeing include warm neutrals, statement backsplashes, large functioning islands, and hidden appliances.
When you ask for it, we’re happy to guide you towards a timeless—yet trendy—design by suggesting that you use neutral colors for cabinets and countertops. We also love to see bold colors and patterns on accessories and not permanent features that so that the kitchen remains flexible for future styles. Backsplashes, hardware, lighting, etc., are all excellent places to really branch out and express yourself!
We always try to find your top priorities to figure out what is non-negotiable and what is flexible. If you have a strict budget, this is where we can find alternatives to save money, but keep the vision you have intact.
